New study shows older workers not terrible for workers’ compensation

Posted on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 at 9:15 pm

The study, “Workers’ Compensation and the Aging Workforce,” shows that the rate at which workers’ compensation claims have been filed has fallen across all ages.

This finding also indicates that the differences of claims filed by age has lessened. Based on this data, the aging population may have less of an effect on costs to workers’ compensation.

The research also indicated that young workers do not get injured on the job any more frequently than people of other age groups. Although the aging workforce may not negatively impact workers’ compensation as much, the seriousness of injuries is still higher when it comes to older individuals. The study also found that all occupational areas are becoming a safer place to work in.
