Woman dies in NYC elevator accident

Posted on Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 at 9:23 pm

A 41-year-old advertising executive has died after a New York City elevator she was on malfunctioned.

The elevator accident occurred early Wednesday morning when the woman was walking into an open elevator near Grand Central Terminal. While entering the elevator, either the woman’s foot or leg became lodged in the closing door. The elevator started traveling upward, taking the woman’s body into the shaft of the elevator ultimately killing her.

There were two people on the elevator when the accident happened and they were taken to the hospital for psychological trauma. An investigation into this accident is underway.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
