A workers’ compensation lawsuit has been filed on behalf of three North Dakota men who were severly burned in an oil rig explosion.
On July 25th, the three men were pulling up drilling pipe on a Cyclone Drilling, Inc. rig when the explosion occurred due to gas escaping the well. While one of the workers is being treated as an outpatient for burns to his arms, the other two sustained much more extensive burns across their bodies, as well as septic shock and life-threatening pneumonia.
The lawsuit was filed on Friday against seven different companies for failing to take the correct steps to prevent such an explosion from happening. According to state laws, Cyclone Drilling cannot be named in the lawsuit because the employer is covered under Workers Compensation and the workers were not killed. The goal of the lawsuit is to get the victims compensation for their pain, medical expenses, and loss of future income.
