Decrease of Construction Fatalities in NY

Posted on Monday, January 11th, 2010 at 1:28 pm

In 2009, there has been a decrease in construction activity in New York, which leads to few workplace deaths.

There were three fatalities due to construction accidents in 2009, which is down from 19 accidents in 2008. This is one upside to the down economy. The slower construction business is leading to less fatal accidents. This is not the only reason for less fatalities. According to officials, the tougher enforcement of safety rules have been helpful in keeping construction workers safer on the job.
