Common Types of Slip and Fall Injuries
Same-level fall: These types of falls commonly occur when someone slips on a wet surface or trips over an object. They are the most common type of slip and fall accident, often caused by negligence of another employee.
Elevated falls: These falls occur when an employee falls from an elevated surface, such as falling down stairs, off a roof, or from a ladder. These types of falls are less common than same-level falls, but are usually far more debilitating.
Strike against object: Sometimes a person trips and falls, but the injury is caused by striking an object, such as a sharp desk edge or metal door frame, rather than from the fall itself.
Falls can lead to short term injuries, such as broken bones, or long term disabilities such as back injuries, head trauma, spinal cord injuries, and paralysis.
